About This Course

Welcome to the Course “Union of minorities. Educational tools for the European cultural mosaic”.

The MOOC is designed for educators, youth workers, social assistants and professionals working with cultural minorities and multicultural groups. The online course offers theoretical insights, practical tools, and best practices which will allow learners to build more inclusive educational paths and projects in the field of interculturality and to operate in multicultural contexts.

“Union of minorities. Educational tools for the European cultural mosaic” is a Massive Open Online Course created in the frame of the project “Minorities as opportunity and occasion for chrysalis” supported by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The core contents of the course were developed by Associazione InformaGiovani, Università degli studi di Palermo, Universidade de Aveiro, Col·legi d’Educadores i Educadors Socials de Catalunya and Savonia-University of Applied Sciences, and enriched by the contribution of partner organisations and institutions experienced in the work with and for minorities: Arcigay Palermo, CAAT Projects, Aventura Maráo Clube, Fundacio Privada Ficat, Fundaciò Catalunya Voluntària, Municipio de Lousada, Comune di Palermo, Roma Capitale, SUDWIND, Service Volontaire International asbl.

Requirements

Course does not require previous knowledge or experience in the field. Course is open to everybody who would like to increase competencies in order to build more inclusive educational paths and projects in the field of interculturality and to operate in multicultural contexts.

  • Deepen understanding about main concepts necessary to work in the field, e.g. cultural identity, multiculturalism, interculturalism, minority, stereotypes and prejudice
  • Improve competencies in teamwork, non-verbal communication and systematic observation
  • Improve knowledge about conflict and alternative methods how to manage them and prevent their escalation
  • Get practical tools and non-formal methods useful for the work with multicultural groups
  • Enhance knowledge about the concept of evaluation and methods and tools for evaluation in educational and social projects.
